In 1984, Tim Macartney-Snape climbed Mount Everest without supplementary oxygen. A feat that less than 200 people have ever attempted, let alone accomplished. In 1990 he returned to Everest with the idea of a first ascent from sea to summit. Bad weather and a high risk of avalanches changed his plans in the end, so that he ended up climbing the South Col route.
Michael Dillon received the Grand Prix of the International Alliance for Mountain Film this year.
